Requirements and Responsibilities For Furnace Technician |
Charges and operates furnaces used to melt or heat treat metals and materials. Uses specialized tools such as a pyrometer to maintain, analyze, and record temperatures. Inspects, cleans, and maintains melting and holding furnaces and follows all material melting specifications. Adjusts settings to ensure the furnace operates at the ideal temperature and pressure for efficient melting processes. Follows strict safety protocols and wears required protective gear. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. Works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Typically requires 1-3 years of related experience. |
