Requirements and Responsibilities For Guidance, Navigation & Control Engineering Manager
Manages a team of guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) engineers. Oversees the design, implementation, and testing of systems, algorithms, and simulation tools used to control the movement of vehicles, such as automobiles, ships, aircraft, or spacecraft. Monitors and reviews the designs for performance and functionality. Evaluates results to determine issues and develops solutions. Stays current on the latest GNC standards and best practices. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. Typically reports to a director. Manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required. Extensive knowledge of the function and department processes.
