| Requirements and Responsibilities For Infection Control Director |
| Directs and leads the infection control department of a facility. Designs and develops infection control policies, procedures, and protocols designed to reduce or eliminate outbreaks. Oversees investigations to determine the source and cause of outbreaks and implements appropriate control measures. Ensures compliance with established standards and identifies areas for improvement. Oversees training to staff on infection control principles and best practices. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require Certification in Infection Control (CIC). Typically reports to senior management. Manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. |
