| Requirements and Responsibilities For Managed Care Pharmacy Senior Manager |
| Oversees and manages a team responsible for overseeing medication utilization, formulary management, and ensuring cost-effective pharmacy services. Monitors and analyzes pharmacy utilization trends and identifies opportunities for cost savings and improved patient outcomes. Collaborates with healthcare stakeholders to implement and optimize pharmacy benefit programs. May also be responsible for negotiating rebates with manufacturers and creating pharmacy networks. Requires a doctorate degree in pharmacy. Typically requires Registered Pharmacist (RPh) license. Typically reports to a director. Typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. |
