| Requirements and Responsibilities For Provider Billing Auditor |
| Responsible for auditing healthcare claims to ensure that medical providers are properly billing insurance companies. Uses knowledge of the medical policy to analyze claims and identify abnormal, questionable, and/or fraudulent billing practices. Compares clinical records against submitted insurance claims to ensure services were billed accurately and are backed by documentation. Identifies irregularities and compiles reports based on the findings. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Typically requires 2-4 years of related experience. |
