| Requirements and Responsibilities For Human Factors Research Manager |
| Leads research operations to support the development of user-centered product designs using human factors principles, standards, and methodologies. Collaborates with engineers, designers, and cross-functional stakeholders to translate objectives into actionable research and study plans. Oversees the quality of quantitative and qualitative data, troubleshoots usability testing and user interview operational issues, and ensures compliance with ethical and regulatory requirements. Communicates research progress, insights, and recommendations to senior leadership. Typically requires a master's degree in human factors, usability engineering, cognitive psychology. Typically reports to a director. Manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required. Extensive knowledge of the function and department processes. |
