| Requirements and Responsibilities For School Superintendent |
| Responsible for providing leadership and direction for a school district. Directs and oversees all aspects of the district's operational policies, objectives, and initiatives. Works with the school board to develop and implement a shared vision for education. Plays a key role in developing and implementing curriculum that meets state and local standards, while also ensuring alignment with the district's overall vision. Typically requires a doctorate degree in education. Typically reports to school board. Manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. |
